Questions and Answers
Should I hire a licensed handyman?
Yes. Washington State requires all contractors be registered with the state. Part of that process includes a requirement that the contractor carry a bond and liability insurance. Yes, there are unlicensed contractors providing the same services. They have decided to avoid the effort required to get a license and they have made a decision not to spend the money required to get licensed, bonded and insured. Customers may not realize that hiring an unlicensed contractor removes the protections the State puts in place through the licensing process.
We encourage customers to check on license and bonding status with the State. Check with Labor and Industries, Washington State (www.lni.wa.gov/).
